Dik Dik
When visiting Africa we tend to focus our attention on the large game, the Big 5, and we forget the animals that are always in abundance. After you’ve seen the first Impala, you drive on by. Ohh, just another Impala, another Kudu… These beautiful ungulates are worthy of more. Such an array of sizes, unique features and skills. The Gerenuk with its slender neck standing up on its back legs to reach higher branches, the Dik Dik, one of the tiniest antelopes standing at 40cm tall, the Topi standing on termite mounds surveying the surrounds. Without them the large game have no food, so without them Africa isn’t the Africa we picture - full of exotic Lions, Elephants, Cheetahs, etc…
This series is an ongoing passion project of mine. Whenever I’m lucky enough to return to Africa I will continue to give my attention to ALL the animals.
